No one can reliably predict which products will matter in ten years — the future becomes visible only through the experiments people actually run, not through forecasting. Someone notices a problem. Someone tries a different workflow. Someone builds a prototype that looks strange at first — genuinely strange, the kind of thing that would have been easy to dismiss if you saw it early. An idea that can be summarized perfectly and instantly is often an idea that’s already obvious to everyone else too — which means the opportunity, if there ever was one, has likely already been noticed and pursued.
The ideas worth protecting are frequently the ones that are a little awkward to explain, because that awkwardness is sometimes a sign the idea hasn’t been fully seen yet by anyone else.
